Charlotte and Stephan headed off racing today with Dominus Maximus in tow. We had hoped that he would give a good display of himself and although he finished 7th of twenty two runners to the heavily backed Cayo Levanado we were disappointed with his performance. Philip headed off with a mare to stud and a horse to be vetted, as well as picking up another young horse to go into training. Nothing quite like a bit of multi-tasking to keep him on his toes, overall I would say there was a fair bit of mileage put up on the clock since this morning.
We have two runners tomorrow and with any bit of luck two good chances. Spring Wine runs in the 2.55 in Clonmel and we hope he can put up a good show. Jacks Island won that race last year and he runs in the 3.25 Handicap Hurdle, he is a useful sort on his day and will run to the best of his ability.
It’s been a long day and it’s not over yet, there are still plenty of staff members rallying around making sure nothing is left undone for the evening(645pm). Philip is speaking with clients before he heads off to pick up another horse, we won’t see much of him this evening although he may bring Cara with him for the drive (she will be delighted). We won’t complain, it’s always good to be busy, and with the evening meetings drawing closer it just means there will be a lot less sleep for the travelling staff, including Philip!!!
