Well it's been a cold few days here at Fairwood with temperatures getting down as far as -14 here in the Wicklow hills. We have managed to survive these sub zero conditions, although only barely. We have had no water, no heating oil, typical we are never prepared, however all our horses have made their way to the Gallops on a daily basis and we have someone rotovating the gallop all night every night, it certainly does add to the already heavy work load but, hopefully it will be worth it.
With all race meetings being cancelled it looks as though we are heading for a repeat of last year, imagine another 3 weeks of ice and snow which of course will bring us right up to Christmas. There goes the Christmas shopping trip planned for the weekend!!!!! We have to thank all our staff members who have battled the weather and made it in to work some traveling from as far as Enniscorthy and Gorey, thanks lads life would be a lot more difficult without your help!!!
