Cheltenham Bound

Philip left Fairwood yesterday evening with both Rathlin and Divine Rhapsody onboard the lorry, headed for the well awaited trip to Cheltenham. They all arrived safely after a long and tiring night on the ferry getting to their destination at about 6am this morning.

Both horses travelled really well and after a feed they were given their first chance to become accustomed to the racetrack. At 7am both horses were ridden down to the gallops, which gave them their first view of the sometimes overwhelming stands.

As we have already stated our horses were not in the best of form for the past month but thankfully we are confident that they are well and full of beans.

Rathlin runs tomorrow in the first race the Supreme Novices hurdle and although he is lacking in experience which could see him a little slower over the daunting obstacles, we are sure the experience of Jason Maguire will more than make up for his inexperience.  He is in our opinion a really decent sort who deserves to take his chances, here’s hoping he shows his full potential and puts in a big performance for all connections.

Divine Rhapsody was always on the cards for the Cheltenham Bumper right from his debut winning performance in the Goffs Landrover Bumper back in May. Rhapsody is owned by a local family in our area who have been a great support to us over the past few years, and it is more than fair to say that we have become good friends in the process, so from all of us here at Fairwood we wish you the very, very best of luck and hope you have a great time over in Cheltenham.
